Who are J-1 visas for?

The University hosts J Exchange Visitors in four primary categories.

Professors

J-1 Professors primarily engage in teaching, lecturing, observing, or consulting at the University. They may also conduct research.

Research Scholars

J-1 Research Scholars focus on conducting research, observing, or consulting in connection with a research project at the University. They may also teach or lecture.

Short-Term Scholars

J-1 Short-Term Scholars are professors, research scholars, or individuals with similar education or accomplishments who come to the United States for short-term visits. These visits are typically for the purpose of lecturing, observing, consulting, training, or demonstrating special skills at the University.

Students

J-1 Students are enrolled in full-time coursework at a post-secondary accredited educational institution within the United States.
