A ceremonial start for new medical students

First-year medical students at the University鈥檚 School of Medicine and Dentistry were welcomed into the profession today, donning their white coats for the first time as they begin their journey to become doctors. 鈥淩eceiving your white coat is truly a moment where one is welcomed into a family of those who have been privileged to heal. 鈥 Recognize that you are what the world needs,鈥 fourth-year medical student Malayna Hocker told the audience, which included the new students and University faculty and staff.

Health, justice, and an abandoned aqueduct

The 人妻少妇专区 students in PHLT 238: Environmental Health and Justice in the Rochester Community recently explored something hidden from most people in Rochester鈥攖he abandoned aqueduct and subway tunnel located under the Broad Street Bridge in the heart of downtown. The tour, led by ROC the Riverway Program Manager Kamal Crues (pictured), gave the 11 undergraduates a chance to consider multiple鈥攁nd occasionally conflicting鈥攊nterests and values central to the city鈥檚 鈥淎queduct Reimagined鈥 project. Each year on Match Day,聽fourth-year medical students across the United States find out where they鈥檒l be spending the next four years for their residencies. At the 人妻少妇专区, tears of joy and cheers of celebration filled the room聽where the聽School of Medicine and Dentistry鈥檚 Class of 2023 discovered what the future holds.
