ROCHESTER CLOAK: A research project that uses inexpensive, readily available lenses to cloak objects from view has received a patent. Physics professor John Howell and then graduate student Joseph Choi 鈥�16 (PhD) first demonstrated the array of lenses in 2014 and have since worked to refine it. Known as the 鈥淩ochester Cloak,鈥� the system is formally known as the 鈥淧araxial Cloak Design and Device鈥濃�攁t least that鈥檚 what the U.S. Patent Office called it when issuing Patent No. 9,557,547.
